Associate Professor Elizabeth Clingan

Associate Professor Elizabeth Clingan is a Specialist Physician in Nuclear Medicine with extensive experience across public and private healthcare in New South Wales, including service delivery to regional centres such as Dubbo and Port Macquarie.

Based in Wollongong, she brings a system-wide perspective shaped by clinical practice across metropolitan, regional, and multi-site environments. She is a proven leader in medical governance, currently serving as Vice-President of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nuclear Medicine (AANMS) and as the AANMS representative on the Binational Adult Medicine Division Council of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP).

She has held several senior governance roles within the RACP, including Chair of the Committee for Joint College Training in Nuclear Medicine and College Council Representative. She also contributes to national standards and accreditation through her role on the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) Medical Imaging Accreditation Advisory Committee. Associate Professor Clingan has a strong track record in education and workforce development. She is a Senior National Examiner for the RACP and NSW State Coordinator for the Adult Medicine Clinical Examination. Her academic leadership includes appointment as Clinical Associate Dean at the University of Wollongong, alongside longstanding roles in physician training and curriculum development. Her formal governance expertise is underpinned by qualifications in clinical education and health administration, including Associate Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators, and current studies in Health Economics and Policy through the London School of Economics.

Locally, she serves as Honorary Secretary of the Medical Staff Council and provides clinical leadership across key cancer services. With a demonstrated ability to lead across clinical, academic, and organisational domains, Associate Professor Clingan is seeking a second term as President to continue strengthening governance, advocacy, and strategic direction for the profession.
